Winchester Cathedral

Listing Status: Grade I

Winchester Cathedral is arguably one of the most significant historic buildings in England. The Cathedral played a central role in England’s history during the middle ages and has been a place of Worship ever since. The built fabric contains many layers of archaeology, and is home to a wealth of art treasures and artifacts.

Nick Cox has been the appointed Cathedral Architect at Winchester since 2011, advising on conservation and repairs to the historic fabric.

In 2019, the Cathedral completed the Kings and Scribes project in the South Transept. This involved the creation of a new three floor exhibition space and lift inside the Cathedral, as well as the conservation of stonework and stained glass in the Presbytery,  roofing works, and new visitor welcome arrangements.
