Woburn Abbey

Nick Cox Architects have been advising on the historic fabric of Woburn Abbey for nearly over 10 years. During this time the Practice has undertaken a wide variety of projects at the Abbey, including:
- Phases of masonry repairs to the Sculpture Gallery
- Investigations and masonry repairs to the South Courtyard
- Investigations and gaining consent for proposals to take down and rebuild the North and South Screen Walls
- Preparing a masterplan for the wider Abbey site including the visitor arrival area, car park, catering, retail, educational and exhibition facilities
- Developing designs in response to the masterplan for a new visitor entrance building in addition to reconfiguring the north and south courts to accommodate new kitchens, restaurant and tea room, exhibition space and education rooms, and landscaping
- Developing proposals for various internal alterations to the Abbey to improve the visitor experience, including the reinstatement of 17th timber panelling, rehanging of a set of 17th century tapestries, repositioning the visitor entrance, installing a lift and new staircase.
