Cotswold Farm - New Build
The barn that forms the centrepiece of the farm dates from the late 18th Century. It is of five bays and has two opposing doors. The barn was extended in the Victorian era to form a three sided courtyard. In the second half of the 20th Century it was converted for domestic residential use. It had become relatively run down.
The design scheme removes the unsatisfactory late 20th Century work and reinstates the barn to a single living space. Within this space new galleries of glass and steel contrast with the qualities of the historic fabric to create a dynamic interior.
Two new ranges have been built to recreate the three sided courtyard. These work primarily with traditional materials but are set off by elements of contemporary design that break through the walls.
