Blenheim Palace – North Portico Restoration Works
The North portico is the principle entrance to Blenheim Palace. The ceiling has coffered plasterwork with decorative panels of eyes painted in the early C20th by Colin Gill. The project concerned the conservation of the decorative painting and associated plaster repairs and gilding. It also involved reroofing above the portico ceiling. As part of the same contract plaster work repairs to the plain plaster ceiling above the associated space adjacent to the Great Hall were carried out as well as reroofing above. This involved internal access scaffold in a sensitive historic interior.
